  • Current model verification at Guanabara Bay

Current model verification at Guanabara Bay

On December 2013, OceanDrivers traveled to Rio de Janeiro to carry out tasks for different projects, amongst which was the verification of a scientific tidal model for Guanabara Bay, using EasyCurrents empiric measurements in contrast with a current model provided by Tidetech for December 6th 2013.

Our team has analysed EasyCurrents’ samples results, and has compared them to the model’s values at given times and coordinates.  The conclusions have been very satisfactory as the measurements have highlighted an excellent precision for EasyCurrents sample results, which have verified the model, and even corrected a time-frame mismatch.

    Display CTD profiles with ODV

During the past MEDESS Campaign, 39 CTD profiles were carried out, and during the post-processing, OceanDrivers created an Ocean Data View (ODV) images in order to illustrate the results.

Ocean Data View (ODV) is a software package for the interactive exploration, analysis and visualization of oceanographic and other geo-referenced profile, time-series, trajectory or sequence data. ODV runs on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and UNIX systems. ODV data and configuration files are platform-independent and can be exchanged between different systems.

Please check out the produced images below, and review other ODV images and tutorials in OceanDrivers repository.
