The challenge

In May 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Son Espases Hospital needed to process thousands of PCR tests a day — far more than its lab could handle by hand.

What we built

We installed and configured OpenTrons lab robots and wrote the custom Python programs that run them, automating the repetitive steps of the PCR testing workflow.

The outcome

The lab scaled up to process 5,000 PCR tests a day, turning a critical bottleneck into a smooth, automated process right when it mattered most.
